PFC seeking soccer players

PRINCETON — The Princeton Football Club is seeking more soccer players to expand to a second team to play in the Illinois Valley League.

The league typically runs from June to October, including teams from DePue, LaSalle, Peru, Mendota and Princeton.

IVYFL registration

SPRING VALLEY — Registration forms for the 2014 Illinois Valley Youth Football League are available at Heartland Bank and Trust in Spring Valley. IVYFL is a tackle football league for youth entering grades 5-8 in the Hall, DePue and Putnam County districts and private schools in the Illinois Valley.

Get Your Rear in Gear 5K

Ladd — The 5th annual Get Your Rear in Gear 5K Run/Walk will be held May 24 in Ladd. Runners, walkers, and volunteers will gather to raise awareness of the nation’s number two cancer killer, and raise funds for colon cancer prevention screening. The day will include opportunities for celebration of the survivors and support for care givers and those who may have been left behind.

The May 24 festivities will be at 7 a.m. with registration, announcements, and music. The 5K Run and Walk will follow at 9 a.m. Registration information is available online at Race day registration is available at the event. Information about volunteering, fundraising, sponsoring an event or forming a team is also posted on the website. Packet pick-up and registration is available for 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 23 at the Ladd Community Center. There will be a volunteer meeting at 7:15 p.m. on May 22 at the Ladd Community Center.

BV boys camp

MANLIUS — The Bureau Valley High School Boys Basketball Camp will be held June 10-13.
There will be sessions for Grades 2-5 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., grades 6-8 from 10 am. to noon and high school as noted on the BVHS summer schedule. Cost is $40 if registered by May 30 ($50 after). All campers will receive a Storm basketball and T-shirt.

BV to host Chute Camp

MANLIUS — Bureau Valley High School will be hosting the Chute Basketball Shooting Camp on June 16-17. The camp will include proper shooting technique, post work for inside players, guard work for perimeter players and ball handling and dribbling.

There will be sessions for Grades 9-12 boys and girls from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. and for Grades 4-7 boys and girls from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $70 with a $30 non-refundable deposit.
