PRINCETON — Shane’s Shine Shop in Princeton has expanded.

“We take pride in our work,” said Shane Pennington, owner of Shane’s Shine Shop. “Word of mouth in a small town can help or hurt you.”

Pennington bought a portion of the building at 79 S. Sixth St. in Princeton in the fall of 2012. Recently, he purchased the rest of the building.

Operating in an actual brick and mortar place since 2012 has helped increase the business, he added. Buying the rest of the building in the last two months will allow him to add more services because of the extra space which includes three more bays, he said.

“We will be adding more offerings because of the extra space with three more bays in the back to spray in-bed liners for trucks and install mudflaps,” he said.

Other services offered are headlight restoration, custom lighting, paint protecting film protecting against bugs, rocks and chips and interior detailing, plus using hot water extraction when shampooing carpets. Since tinted windows are now allowed in Illinois, Pennington will also use some of his extra space for this service.

Pennington first started Shane’s Shine Shop as a mobile detailing business from 2007 to 2009 until the economy turned down and interest waned in having vehicles detailed.

Pennington employs three full-time workers at Shane’s Shine Shop. His phone number is 815-878-4301. His website address is www.shanesshineshop.com. He also has a Facebook page.
