Timber Lake Playhouse begins 53rd season

MOUNT CARROLL — Timber Lake Playhouse, the professional summer theatre, in Mount Carroll, has opened its box office for ticket sales. The playhouse entertains more than 20,00 ticket buyers each year with a full line-up of shows and events through August.

Timber Lake Playhouse's 53rd season opens with "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" from June 5-15. Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's musical for the whole family has become an international hit everywhere it plays. Executive Director James Beaudry put his personal choreographic stamp on this new production, featuring Melissa Weyn as The Narrator and Gabe Brown as Joseph.

Timber Lake Playhouse Hall of Fame Director Chuck Smith returns to direct J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls," showing June 19-28. Set in 1912 England, an inspector interrupts an engagement party and implicates each person in the apparent suicide of a young woman. But is this inspector really who he claims to be? And is this a whodunnit or who didn't do it?

Brad Lyons, longtime TLP artistic director and master of the ridiculous, returns to direct the stage musical adaptation of Mel Brooks' "Young Frankenstein" from July 3-13.

American comedy writer Neil Simon takes on the New York society types of the late-1980s in "Rumors" showing July 17-26. Derek Bertelsen returns to direct the comedic mayhem. Part farce and part side-splitting sitcom, "Rumors" remains one of Simon's funniest scripts.

"Les Miserables" will take the stage at Timber Lake Playhouse for the first time ever from July 31 to Aug. 10. Matthew Teague Miller spent several years as a performer in the first National Tour of "Les Miserables" and will return to direct this production. Special guest stars Jason Kraack will play the role of Jean Valjean, John Leen will play Inspector Javert, Lexie Plath returns as Fantine, Erica Stephan returns of Eponine, Caroline will play Cosette and Nathan Goodrich will play Marius.

Associate Artistic Director Courtney Crouse directs "SHOUT! The Mod Musical" showing Aug. 14-24 with choreography by James Beaudry. This musical review features some of the best songs of the 1960s. Five women sing out the stories of the 60s to the soundtrack of a generation.

Tickets to Timber Lake Playhouse's mainstage shows are $23 for adults, $21 for seniors and $17 for students. A season subscription costs $110. To purchase tickets, call the box office at 815-224-2035.
