BELVIDERE — Marilyn R. Burkholder, 83, of Belvidere died Monday, May 19, 2014, in her home following a short illness.
Born March 24, 1931, in Sublette, the daughter of Glen and Madeline (Wagner) Smith, she married John Burkholder on March 17, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Marilyn owned and operated the Casa Mia restaurant until retiring in 1976. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Marilyn also enjoyed wintering in Brownsville, Texas.
She is survived by one son, Terry (Chris Meredith) Burkholder of Belvidere; one stepson, Joe (Carol) Burkholder of California; one stepdaughter, Anne (Gerald) Wise of Tampa, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Robert Smith.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, in the Anderson Funeral and Cremation Services at Buck-Wheeler-Hyland Chapel, 218 W. Hurlbut Ave., Belvidere. Pastor Dan Lashley of the Calvary Baptist Church will officiate. There will be no visitation. Cremation will be accorded and burial will be in the Belvidere Cemetery.
