Murray lands medal, school record

EAST PEORIA — Princeton Logan Junior High brought home one medal from the IESA 2A State Track and Field Meet and a couple of school records.

Anna Murray placed seventh in the eighth-grade hurdles with a time of 16.78. She turned in a 16.28 in the semifinals to eclipse the school record of 16.63 set by Jasmine Kunkel in 2008.

The eighth-grade boys 4x200 relay just missed out on a medal, placing 12th. Alex Janssen, Kendile Whitford, Drake Davis and Brett Schenck did set a school record at 1:40.56. The previous record of 1:40.94 was set in 2001 by Alex Hartz, David Anderson, Derek Dickinson and Evan Holschbach.

Non-medal efforts by the Logan eighth-graders included Murray (13th, high jump, 4-8; 39th, 100, 13.60), Garrett Allen (13th, shot put, 42-2 1/4; 46th, discus, 95-3), Whitford (18th, 400, 55.56), Davis (40th, long jump, 17-5 14) and the 4x400 of Janssen, Brandt Hendrickson, Davis and Whitford (36th, 3:57.55).

Seventh-grade competitors were Shaela Hayes (51st, long jump, 13-2 1/4) and Chase Tatum (20th, shot put, 35-1).
