Thursday sports update

BV 4x8, 4x4 advance to finals

CHARLESTON — Bureau Valley qualified two relays for Saturday's 1A finals.

The 4x800 turned in a 8:09.63 on the legs of  Kane Eastwood (Sr.), Ryan Taylor (Sr.), Colten Peterson (Sr.) and Daniel Trone (Sr.), placing third in its heat. It was the fifth fastest time of the day.

The Storm were the No. 1 seed coming out of sectionals.

The Storm also qualified its 4x4 relay of Trone, Tucker Schoff (Sr.), Peterson and Eastwood with a time of 3:27.85, second in its heat and sixth overall.

Hall's Collin Aimone went 18-7 3/4 in the long jump, but did not qualify for finals. He also finished fourth in his heat, 15th overall in the 400 meters with a time of 51.56 and did not qualify.

Other area non-qualifiers include:

John Barnes (St. Bede) - shot put, 6th in flight, 24th overall, 44-1; discus, fourth in flight, 133-8.

Michael Slingsby (St. Bede) - discus, sixth in flight, 131-0.

Hall 4x100 relay — 7th in heat, 28th overall, 45:06.

Eastwood (BV) - 800, 6th in heat, 16th overall, 2:01.09.

Schoff (BV) - 30- hurdles, 4th in heat, 25th overall, 42.22.

• Princeton runs in 2A prelims Friday morning.
