Let’s move forward with Walnut Ridge

It is time for Bureau County to move ahead with the Walnut Ridge Wind Farm (WRWF) project. It will help our local community, our youth, our country and the world.

Our community will benefit from improved employment opportunities; Bureau County will benefit from a stronger tax base; and our youth will benefit from a much needed increase in educational funding. On a broader scale, the world stands to benefit from decreased fossil fuel use and carbon emissions thus helping the environment and mitigating global warming.

As for our country, I have served as a Navy medical officer for over 30 years and have a special place in my heart for our nation’s welfare. Since much of the world’s oil is located in unstable and unfriendly regions, our nation has sometimes found it necessary to defend these vital energy sources. WRWF turbines will help build access to alternative energy and potentially decrease the need for sending our troops to defend overseas oil supplies.

The WRWF is a win-win-win proposition. There are just too many benefits to delay any longer. Let’s all move forward with it!
