CHARLESTON — Princeton came up empty in Friday’s prelims in the IHSA Class 2A State Track and Field Meet at Eastern Illinois University.
PHS coach Dan Foes said the Tigers competed well in a tough 2A field.
“We were very pleased with them. Definitely very proud of them just to get down here,” he said. “I’m always amazed at the competition down here. It’s like the Greatest Show on Earth.”
Junior Drew Pranka was the Tigers’ best shot in the 300 hurdles. He just missed out on finals by two spots, finishing 11th overall with a time of 40.31.
Pranka also ran in the 110 hurdles, finishing fifth in his heat, 13th overall with a time of 15.36.
Both of his times were season’s bests.
Senior Caleb Strom ran his last race in Tiger blue, placing eighth in the second heat of the 200 meters with a time of 23.29.
Sophomore Lenny Mead joined Pranka in the 300 hurdles, finishing sixth in the second heat and 19th overall (41.00).
Another sophomore, Kai Tomaszewski made state in the 400, placing eighth in the third heat of the 400 meters (52.09) and 20th overall.
