Finding treasures, trinkets and More (on 34)

If hunting for treasures at a garage sale is your idea of fun, you’ll want to mark your calendars for this weekend, when More on 34 returns to the area. Set for Friday and Saturday, June 13-14, this is the granddaddy of all yard sales, which is ideal for bargain hunters, antique enthusiasts and collectors.

More on 34 is an avalanche of sales, spanning more than 100 miles on (or just off of) Route 34 across five counties. Participating communities include Galesburg, Wataga, Oneida, Altona, Galva, Kewanee, Neponset, Sheffield, Wyanet, Princeton, Dover, LaMoille, Mendota, Earlville, Leland, Somonauk, Sandwich, Plano, Yorkville and Aurora, but sales can be found in a variety of locations on and off Route 34. Sales can be found in parking lots, in city parks, and in many yards all along the route. Sales typically run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, but some open earlier or remain open later. A few sellers even begin their sales on Thursday and continue through Sunday.

The event is in its ninth year and continues to grow in popularity. To view a list of the sales posted and to plan your trip down the back roads, visit www.moreon34.com or call 877-436-7926.
