LTC teams fare well in postseason

The Little Ten Conference softball and baseball teams had successful season this spring.

Somonauk became the first LTC softball team to go unbeaten in conference games (16-0), since the league went to a home and away series in 2002.

Somonauk won the Newark Class 1A Regional, defeating the host Lady Norsemen 8-3 in the title game. The Lady Bobcats won the Gardner Class 1A Sectional, defeating Luther North 23-0 and the host Lady Panthers 6-2.

Somonauk’s season ended at the Normal Super-sectional, where they fell to West Prairie of Sciota 3-2.

Serena won its own Class 1A Regional in softball, defeating Earlville-Leland 7-2 in the finals. The Lady Huskers defeated Williamsville-Galva 3-2, before falling to Putnam County 2-0 in the sectional finals.

Hiawatha also won the Westminster Christian Class 1A Regional.

In baseball, Somonauk earned at least a share of the conference title in each of the last eight seasons, finishing 15-1. It placed three players on the all-conference team.

Runner-up Indian Creek (13-3) was the lone conference team to win an IHSA Regional. The Timberwolves won the championship of the Fulton Class 1A Regional, defeating the host Steamers 5-1 for the title.

• LaMoille/Ohio did not have any selections to either the all-conference baseball or softball teams.
