WALNUT – On Friday, June 20, Sunset Ridge MX Park in Walnut will host Part 2 of its Fourth Annual Susan G. Komen Track Walks for Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. The first walk (Part 1), held on May 30, raised just over $10,000 for the Quad Cities and Memorial Affiliates of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This event is being held in conjunction with the AMA Amateur Regional Motocross Championships being held at Sunset Ridge that weekend.

“We are fortunate to have wonderful participation from people from across the country who enjoy a chance to get out and walk the 1.8 mile motocross track at the end of a long day of supporting their friends who are practicing for this regional race event. Since all net proceeds raised go to support our local affiliates, we also look forward to welcoming local citizens who support the efforts of this very important cause,” co-owner of Sunset Ridge MX, Jan Pistole said.

The walk begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20, and registration at the event will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Pre-registration is available prior to June 19 online at www.sunsetridgemx.com or at the track for $15. After that date and at the event, the cost is $20 per registration. All participants will receive a T-shirt and goodie bag the day of the event. Donations can also be made online at the website for those who would like to contribute but are unable to attend the event. Sunset Ridge MX is located at 24558 1100 E Street in Walnut. Directions are available on the park’s website.

“We are looking forward to challenging ourselves and everyone involved to go beyond our contribution in 2013. We all know or will know someone who has been impacted by this devastating disease, and the goal is to raise money to help researchers eradicate it for future generations,” Pistole said.

Shuttle transportation across the 1.8 mile course will be available for those who are unable to walk the track but who wish to participate.
