Mineral Pride Society holds banquet

Jordan, Megan and Hunter all have relatives who graduated from Mineral High School. Hunter had a relative graduate in 1905.

MINERAL — The Mineral Pride Society Inc. held a banquet on June 7 which doubled as a Mineral High School alumni reunion. An open house at the Mineral Pride Museum was also held followed by a dinner and short program at the Mineral Community Center.

The purpose of the banquet was to introduce the Mineral High School alumni, of which the last graduating class was from the spring of 1961, to the current group of senior who graduated from Annawan High School but grew up in Mineral.

Of the seven 2014 Annawan High School seniors contacted, three went to the banquet and were introduced. Members of the Mineral High School alumni included Virginia (Rodgers) Hadley, Class of 1938, and Laura (Rakestraw) Thomas, Class of 1940. About 27 Mineral High School alumni were in attendance and there 60 people total present at the banquet. The last time the Mineral High School alumni met was in 2011.
