WIU awards degrees

MACOMB/MOLINE — More than 1,460 students earned academic degrees after the spring 2014 semester at Western Illinois University. Of these, nearly 150 graduates’ primary attendance site was the WIU-Quad Cities campus. Bachelor’s degrees were awarded to 1,175 graduates.

Academic distinction was awarded to baccalaureate graduates who achieved high grade point averages. This includes summa cum laude, 3.90 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale; magna cum laude, 3.75 to 3.89 GPA; and cum laude, 3.6 to 3.74 GPA.

Master’s degrees were earned by more than 285 graduates. Thirty-four individuals earned post-baccalaureate certificates.

Area students awarded degrees were:

Arlington — Zachary Pratt, cum laude, Bachelor of Arts, English.

Cherry — Jacob Franklin, Bachelor of Science, Law Enforcement & Justice Administration.

Princeton — Brock Schmidt, Bachelor of Business, Management; Stacy Tonozzi, Bachelor of Science, Law Enforcement & Justice Administration; and Jennifer Van Cleave, Bachelor of Arts, General Studies.

Spring Valley — Dawn Bumgarner, Bachelor of Arts, General Studies; Jacob Kelley, Bachelor of Science, Construction Management; Kelsey Noy, Bachelor of Science, Psychology; Michelle Stone, Master of Accountancy, Accountancy; and Michael Swingel, Bachelor of Science, Construction Management.

Wyanet — Lorraine Jacobson, Master of Science in Education, Reading.
