2014 All-BCR Baseball

The 2014 season saw the Hall Red Devils get out to a fast start and the St. Bede Bruins come on strong at the end. Here’s the top 10 players making up the 2014 All-BCR Baseball team.

• Michael Bellino (Sr., St. Bede) — Third base/pitcher

The senior captain delivered for the Bruins in a big way at the plate with a team-high .486 average and 29 RBI on the way to receiving unanimous all-conference selection in the Three Rivers South as an infielder (third base). He also posted a 4-1 record on the mound with a 2.16 ERA, striking out 39 batters in 43.3 innings.

• A.J. Gaeta (Jr., Hall) —  Third base/pitcher

The junior third baseman batted .374 for the Red Devils and knocked in 18 runs while collecting three doubles. He received Second Team Three Rivers South All-Conference selection.

• Josh Mead (Jr., Bureau Valley) — Shortstop/pitcher

The fleet-foot junior shortstop led the Storm with a .367 batting average, 15 stolen bases and 24 runs scored. He received Second Team Three Rivers North All-Conference honors. He also logged 24.6 innings pitched with a 2-4 record and 5.98 ERA.

• Jarret Olson (So., St. Bede) — Pitcher/outfielder

The only thing to slow down the speedy sophomore was an illness to start the season. He recovered to snag unanimous all-conference selection in the Three Rivers South as a pitcher with a 3-3 record and 1.47 ERA and an area-best 68 strikeouts in only 38 innings. Swung a good stick, too, batting .463 with 18 RBI, 11 runs scored and nine doubles.

• Jake Reinhardt (So., Princeton) — Pitcher/shortstop

The strong-armed sophomore led the Tiger staff with a sparkling sub-100 ERA (0.92) and 4-2 record on the mound as an unanimous First Team Three Rivers All-Conference selection. He also swung the stick to the tune of a .344 average with 25 runs scored and swiped 25 bases in 26 attempts.

• Adam Sangston (So., Hall) - Catcher

The sophomore catcher made a big splash with the big club, stroking a teambest average of .394 with 17 RBI and seven doubles. He received Second Team Three Rivers South All-Conference honors.

• Matt Szczepaniak (Jr., St. Bede) — Shortstop/pitcher

The junior shortstop was the third leading batsmen on his team as well as the area with a .416 batting clip. The Second Team Three Rivers South All-Conference selection led the Bruins with 32 runs while delivering 11 RBI, seven doubles, a triple and a home run. He also went 1-2 with a 3.45 ERA on the mound.

• Isaiah Taylor (Sr., Princeton) — Pitcher/center fielder

Another dual threat for the Tigers, the PHS senior nabbed unanimous First Team Three Rivers All-Conference honors as an outfielder, batting .404 with a team-high 26 runs scored while pilfering 30 bases in 32 attempts. The southpaw slinger also posted a 2.06 ERA and a 1-4 record with 45 strikeouts.

• J.J. Vaccaro (Sr., Princeton) — Infielder

A steady glove at either second base or shortstop, Vaccaro received Second Team Three Rivers All-Conference honors. The senior infielder batted .398, with a team-high 22 RBI with 16 runs scored, 5 doubles and 21 stolen bases.

• Taggart Venegas (Sr., Hall) — Pitcher/outfielder
