SBA Wrestling Camp

PERU — The St. Bede Wrestling Camp runs June 19-21 and is open to students entering grades 2-8. Plan to wrestle, swim, play football, and wrestle for this 3 day camp.  Headgear and wrestling shoes are recommended but not required.  Snacks will be provided. New wrestlers welcome.

SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valleye Walleye Club’s annual workday is set for Saturday, June 14, starting at 7 a.m. from Barto Landing. Lunch will be provided by SVWC.

Seeking soccer players

PRINCETON — The Princeton Football Club is seeking more soccer players to expand to a second team to play in the Illinois Valley League. The league typically runs from June to October, including teams from DePue, LaSalle, Peru, Mendota and Princeton. For more information, call David Gray at 815-915-5247.

IVYFL registration

SPRING VALLEY — Registration forms for the 2014 Illinois Valley Youth Football League are available at Heartland Bank and Trust in Spring Valley.

IVYFL is a tackle football league for youth entering grades 5-8 in the Hall, DePue and Putnam County districts and private schools in the Illinois Valley.

Charity golf tourney

WALNUT — A charity golf tournament, with proceeds helping pay for the Fourth of July fireworks at the Walnut celebration, will be Saturday at the Green River Country Club, Walnut. Players and hole sponsorships are wanted.

The event is for four-person teams. It will be a 1 p.m. shotgun start. To sign up or for hole sponsorship information, call the country club at 815-379-2227.

A benefit auction, with proceeds also going to the fireworks, will be at 7 p.m. at the country club.

Donated items are being accepted. Fireworks in Walnut will be at dusk on July 6.

Cheer Camp

PRINCETON — The Princeton High School cheerleaders, along with coach Emily Moats, are hosting their annual PHS Summer Cheer Camp for Pre-K to 8th Graders from 9 a.m. to noon June 25-27. The cost is $60 which includes a cawmp T-shirt, cheer bow, instruction, and lots of fun.

PHS Girls Camp

SCGC Junior Golf

SPRING VALLEY— Spring Creek’s Junior Golf begins its 16th year. The students of the game learn proper golf procedures and etiquette. These junior golfers develop physical and mental golf game, combining proper fundamentals and golf etiquette.

There will be a Junior Camp June 9-13 with beginners meeting from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and intermediates fro 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

The junior golf league will be held at 8 a.m. on June 16, June 20, June 23, June 27 and June 30. the Illinois Valley Junior Golf Championship will be held Aug. 4. There will also be a Spring Creek Junior Member Tournament to be announced.
