Ag Summary

Scattered rainfall continued throughout the state last week as temperatures fell to an average of 66.1 degrees, 5.4 degrees below normal. Operators continued to spray herbicides and cut hay as weather permitted.

Statewide precipitation averaged 1.27 inches, 0.30 inches above normal. There were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending June 15.

Soybeans planted reached 94 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 89 percent. Soybeans emerged reached 89 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 75 percent. Sorghum planted reached 78 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 70 percent. Oats planted and oats headed reached 94 and 59 percent respectively.

Corn condition was rated 76 percent good to excellent. Soybeans condition was rated 72 percent good to excellent. Winter wheat headed reached 98 percent. Winter wheat condition was rated 59 percent good to excellent. Pasture condition was rated at 1 percent very poor, 3 percent poor, 26 percent fair, 50 percent good and 20 percent excellent.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 5 percent short, 80 percent adequate and 15 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2 percent very short, 14 percent short, 78 percent adequate and 6 percent surplus.
