‘Show me the benefits!’

It seems incredible that after all this time, the county board still persists in fence sitting regarding wind turbines. Is lack of foresight so blinding as to prevent the board members from realizing that blanketing our prime farmland with these intrusive mechanical monstrosities, their cables, webs of wiring, towers and transformers will do nothing to improve Bureau County?

Profits from these turbines will only serve to offset the loss in revenue from unusable farmland, drive farmers out, replacing them with an industrial power grid that within 20 years will be nothing but a massive junkyard. What is with the board that keeps this counter-productive, abhorrent concept alive? Why can’t the board take a once and for all firm stand for the farmers of Bureau County and kick these incessantly persistent, profit driven developers out? If these limited use turbines are to replace generations of productive farming in Bureau County, then show me the benefits.
