Gertrude Eckberg

WALNUT — Gertrude M. Eckberg, 89, of Walnut died Monday, June 16, 2014, at Walnut Manor Nursing Home.

Born May 2, 1925, in Princeton, the daughter of Clarence and Maude (Thuliene) Raker, she married Harold Eckberg March 17, 1946, in Princeton. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2008.

She worked as a beautician in the Walnut area and was a member of the Walnut Community Bible Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Leland) Johnson of Winnebago, Julie (Michael) Hubbell of Dixon and Angie (Jody) Davis of Walnut; one son, Ronald (Judy) Eckberg of Erie; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the Walnut Community Bible Church with the Rev. Ron Eckberg, pastor of the Erie Evangelical Free Church in Erie, and the Rev. Eldon Cook, pastor of the Walnut Community Bible Church, co-officiating. Burial will be in Elm Lawn Memorial Park, Princeton.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 20, at the church.

A memorial has been established.

The Garland Funeral Home in Walnut is in charge of arrangements.
