Book sale

PRINCETON — The Friends of Princeton Public Library will host its July book sale from 5 to 8 p.m. July 17 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 18 at the library, 698 E. Peru St. This event will give avid readers an opportunity to browse and pick up summer reading material. The entire sale room will be open for this event. All books are donated by residents of Princeton and surrounding communities. The books are edited carefully to ensure the new titles appear at each sale.

Cookout for veterans

PRINCETON — The Princeton Veterans Group invites all veterans and their families to a free cookout at 1 p.m. July 20 at City-County Park, just north of Princeton. You need not be a member of the Princeton Veterans Group to attend.

IVCH holds group meetings

PERU — Possibilities/DBSA, the local depression and biopolar group will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 21. The IVCH Grief Recovery Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 23. The group allows persons who have recently suffered the loss of someone close to them to share their feelings and experiences with others. Both groups will meet in conference room C on the fourth floor of the Illinois Valley Community Hospital in Peru.

Dean reunion

TISKWILA — The 77th annual Dean reunion will be held at 12:30 p.m. July 27 at West Park in Tiskilwa. Those attending should bring drinks, table service and covered dishes according to the size of their family. The 2014 officers are Judy Schindel Schmitt, president; Kenny Dean, vice president; and Alice Schindel, secretary.

Benefit planned

The Roxana Miller Family Benefit will be from noon to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at the American Legion, 749 Henderson Road, Knoxville. The event, being held in memory of Roxana Miller of Tiskilwa who passed away on July 7, will include a silent auction, food, door prizes, a 50/50 and DJ. All proceeds from the event will go toward funeral costs. Those unable to attend can make a donation to the Roxana Miller Memorial Fund, Central Bank, 317 S. Manlius Day parade

MANLIUS — The Manilus Day parade will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 2. This year’s theme is Happy. Lineup will begin at 10 a.m. at Bureau Valley High School. To submit an entry, call Joe at 815-445-2323.
