Chainsaw artist at Wyanet

WYANET — Chainsaw artist Dan Harding of Decatur will once again be at the Wyanet Festival Thursday-Saturday. He will be carving a children’s bench, a gnome and welcome sign with a stand. The carvings will be auctioned off at 2:30 p.m. Saturday following the festival parade.

Train trip

TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Historical Society will visit Laurence Johnson’s Backyard Train near Lake Arispie Monday. The program will begin at 6:30 p.m. July 14 with an overview, questions and answers and train rides. The model cars are big enough for children as well as svelte adults to ride.

Grief, loss support group

PRINCETON — The Bureau Valley Hospice will host its monthly grief and loss support group at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Stroke screenings

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Farm Bureau in Princeton will host wellness screenings from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 17. The screenings performed include: carotid arteries, abdominal aortic aneurysm, peripheral artery disease and osteoporosis. The cost for all four tests is $100 for Farm Bureau members and $135 for community members. Appointments are required. To schedule and appointment, call 1-877-732-8258.

Z-Tour Bike Ride

PRINCETON — The Z-Tour Bike Ride will ride in Princeton again on July 19. There are courses available for all levels of bikers, including 10 miles, 30 miles, 50 miles, 62 miles and 100 miles throughout the Princeton and Bureau County area. All riders must start between 6 to 9:30 a.m. with the 100 milers out by 8 a.m. All proceeds benefit the Zearing Child Enrichment Center in Princeton. Hewitt-Plumley reunion

MANLIUS — The 94th annual Hewitt-Plumley reunion will be at 12:30 p.m. July 27 at Mullin Memorial Park in Manlius. Bring a well filled basket, table service and beverage.

Steak fry weekend

SPRING VALLEY — The Spring Valley Boat Club’s steak fry weekend will be July 25-27. The event will include a chicken fry (fried chicken, spaghetti, fries, coleslaw and bread) and entertainment on Friday; various events, entertainment, rib eye steaks beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday and a band Saturday evening; and Pat’s “famous” serve yourself breakfast on Sunday morning.
