PHS football will not be at home as much as it first appears

Prep football

At first glance it looked like Princeton football fans were going to get a lot of good opportunities to see their boys in blue this fall.

According to the 2014 season schedules released by the IHSA recently, eight out of their nine games this fall were listed as being at home Bryant Field. That is incorrect. The Tigers will play five game at home and four on the road. PHS did pick up an additional home date this year, having swapped sites a year ago for the season finale to facilitate construction project of PHS’ new bleachers.

The season will kick off at home Aug. 29 vs. Morrison. Following that the Tigers will play at Sterling Newman (Sept. 6), Sherrard (Sept. 12) and St. Bede (Sept. 19) before returning home Sept. 26 vs. Kewanee. Remaining games include at Fulton (Oct. 3) and then finishing at home vs. Orion (Oct. 10), Rockridge (Oct. 17) and Hall (Oct. 24).

The opponents remain the same for the other local Three Rivers teams with only the sites changing. The crossover games between the South and North divisions will change in 2015-16.

The Hall Red Devils and the Bureau Valley Storm will kickoff the season once again in crossover play, this time at Nesti Stadium in Spring Valley.

Remaining games for Bureau Valley are home vs. St. Bede (Sept. 5), Newman (Sept. 12) and Kewanee (Sept. 19), at Erie (Sept. 26), home vs. Morrison (Oct. 3), at Amboy (Oct. 10), home vs. Riverdale (Oct. 17) and at Fulton (Oct. 24).

For Hall, the Red Devils will travel to Erie (Sept. 5), play home (this is listed wrong on the ihsa site) vs. Amboy (Sept. 12) and vs. Orion (Sept. 19), go to Rockridge (Sept. 26) and return home vs. Sherrard (Oct. 3) before closing out at St. Bede (Oct. 10), Kewanee (Oct. 17) and Princeton (Oct. 24).

The St. Bede Bruins will host Amboy/LaMoille for their Aug. 29 opener followed by Sept. 5 at Bureau Valley, Sept. 12 at Kewanee, home on Sept. 19 vs. Princeton, homecoming game on Sept. 27 vs. Riverdale, at Rockridge on Oct. 3, home vs. Hall on Oct. 10, at Orion on Oct. 17 and Sherrard on Oct. 24.

After the opener at home vs. St. Bede, the Amboy/LaMoille will host Sherrard (Sept. 5), Hall (Sept. 12) and Riverdale (Sept. 19), travel to Morrison (Sept. 26) and Erie (Oct. 3), come home vs. BV (Oct. 10) and Fulton Orion (Oct. 17) and close at rival Newman on Oct. 24.
