PRINCETON — Gateway Services will hold its first Gateway 5K on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m., starting at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. This 5K is for awareness of intellectual and developmental disabilities. The theme this year is Superhero Showdown.
“Supporters of Gateway Services are heroes to our individuals. Without supporters of Gateway, we would be unable to provide essential services to adults and children with disabilities in Bureau, Marshall, and Putnam counties,” said Rachel Dean, communications manager of Gateway Services. “By having the Gateway 5K Superhero Showdown, we want to show our individuals that they have the support of the community, and we want to show our community we are more than a building or logo. We are about people.”
The Gateway 5K Superhero Showdown will start and finish at the Bureau County Fairgrounds. Runners and volunteers will be able to park there and registration will be in the main building. Cost to enter the Gateway 5K is $20. After Aug. 15 it will be $35. All proceeds will go towards the programs Gateway Services provides. To register as a runner, a volunteer, to sponsor the event, or to get more information, go to gateway5k.com.
