Cardinals sweep Sheffield squads

The Princeton Cardinals made a sweep of B and C League play Monday night at Sheffield.

Olivia Vergamini pitched the B League Cardinals to a 17-4 win over Sheffield. Winning pitcher Hannah Mueschelgel had a 1-2-3 strikeout inning in her first inning of work, on the way to a 19-10 win. Mueschelgel, Ryan Wempe, starting pitcher McKenzie Hecht (RBI) and Brynn Hieronymus (RBI) all had hits for the Cardinals. Sheffield’s Addison Hicks had a RBI hit.

The Princeton Cubs edged Walnut 19-18 with Allison Morton sliding home with the game-winning run. Gracy May had two doubles for the Cubs.

At Annawan in C League, the Princeton Pirates rode to 21-12 win over Annawan II. In other B League play, LaMoille defeated Walnut 2 11-10 in LaMoille, the Princeton A’s edged Wyanet and host Walnut I beat the Princeton Cubs.
