The top two seeds of the Western Bureau Valley Minor League Baseball played themselves into Wednesday's championship game at Annawan. No. 1 LaMoille shocked the BVN Lightning on Sunday and downed the No. 4 Princeton White Sox 8-4 on Monday. No. 2 Sheffield also made its way to the finals, defeating No. 7 Annawan 10-5 and and No. 6 Princeton Red Sox 9-5 on Monday. The White Sox and Red Sox were going to have a meeting of the all-Princeton Sox teams for third place with Wyanet facing the Princeton Tigers for the consolation title. WBVL C League Softball AT WALNUT: Top-seeded and undefeated Wyanet downed No 4 BVN Lightning 11-1 Monday to advance into Wednesday's title game. McKenzie Law was the winning pitcher. The Princeton Cardinals joined Wyanet in the finals, defeating LaMoille 14-8 on Tuesday. Rilee Sterling's bases-loaded triple broke the game open in the bottom of the third inning. Ryan Wempe, Abby Jensen and winning pitcher Brynn Hieronymus (10 strikeouts) each had two hits for the Cardinals. The Princeton Cubs defeated the Princeton A's 13-11 for the consolation championship. Sheffield outlasted Annawan II 18-17 while Tampico topped the BVN Thunder to advance into Wednesday's fifth-place contest. WBVL B League Softball AT LAMOILLE: The BVN Thunder (12-1) will take the top record into the B League Tournament with a 12-1 record, beginning Saturday. The Princeton Cardinals (10-2-1) snagged the No. 2 seed followed by Tampico (10-3), LaMoille (9-5), BV Lightning (10-4), and the Princeton A's (8-7). The double-elimination tournament runs through Monday. WBV Farm League Baseball AT LAMOILLE: The Princeton Cardinals topped LaMoille 7-6 Tuesday in the jnior high baseball division to earn a spot in Wednesday's championship. Princeton Fastpitch Church League Princeton Bible Church got its 50th Anniversary Celebration Weekend off to a good start Friday with a 12-6 win over St. Louis/Covenant. Other Friday games saw Methodist top the People's Church 17-3 and Bureau Township edge Bunker Hill 5-4. The league is trying to get back on schedule with double-header make-up games this week. On Tuesday. The People's Church will meet St. Louis at 5:30 p.m. Friday followed by Bible vs. St. Matthew's at 7 p.m. and Bible vs. Bureau Township at 9 p.m.
