Blood drive

Toastmasters meeting

PRINCETON — The Princeton area chapter of Toastmasters will meet from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Aug. 12 in the meeting room at the Bureau County Republican, 800 Ace Road in Princeton. Guests are welcome. Pie and coffee social

CHERRY — The United Church of Christ and Holy Trinity in Cherry will sponsor a pie and coffee social hour from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Cherry Church Hall. The guest speaker will be Cindy Dalzot, volunteer services and Auxiliary coordinator at St. Margaret’s Hospital in Spring Valley.

Arlington Sausage Fest

ARLINGTON — The Arlington Sausage Fest will be Saturday at the Arlington Fire Department/Village Hall property beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until 11 p.m. Festivities include three bands (Al Pottinger and the Lincolnaires, The Sausage Links and The Dyer Soens Project) beginning at 2 p.m. The beer stand and food stand featuring “Nuco’s” Italian sausage sandwiches, barbecue, hot dogs and sides will open at 1 p.m. A kid’s carnival will include a bounce house, face painting and games. The event will benefit the Arlington Park Fund for the construction of the park shelter.

Widmark group to meet

PRINCETON — The Richard Widmark Centennial Committee will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Princeton Public Library’s Matson Meeting Room. The public is invited. Fundraiser for Ashton

PRINCETON — A garage/bake sale fundraising event for 12-year-old Ashton Tucker Landrus will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday at 314 W. Crown St. in Princeton. Ashton has been facing some major health issues since May 20 and this had led to a long, complicated hospital stay at OSF St. Francis Children’s Hospital in Peoria. Proceeds will help with medical costs and lost wages the family has incurred.

Breakfast planned

MALDEN — The Malden Fire Department will hold its annual pancake and sausage breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at the Malden firehouse. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for ages 5-12 and free for preschool and under.

Meeting set

MANLIUS — Bureau Valley Buddy Bags will meet at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 28 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Manlius.
