OGLESBY — The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Illinois Valley Community College and Starved Rock Startups are hosting a noon luncheon Thursday, July 31 at Deer Park Country Club, Oglesby, featuring speaker Jill Salzman.
Salzman will speak about the benefits co-working spaces provide and discuss her own experiences at 1871, Chicago’s entrepreneurial hub for digital startups. Salzman credits 1871 for her success by providing co-work space and the expertise needed to start her first digital business, The Founding Moms. The Founding Moms connects mom entrepreneurs around the globe.
Salzman was recently named one of the Top 50 Women to Watch in Tech and a Top 100 Champion Small Business Influencer. After graduating from Brown University and law school, she started Paperwork Media LLC, a music management firm. She went on to create The Bumble Brand LLC, which developed and sold Bumble Bells, audible ankle wear for infants. She sold the business in 2011.
