Reagan Trail Days offers a week of fun

DIXON — The annual Reagan Trail Days will be held Aug. 3-10 in Dixon. The week includes a performance by Lyle Lovett, the 144th National Guard Band and a special John Deere showcase Aug. 9-10 in downtown Dixon.

The week’s schedules is:

Aug. 3 — Dirt Simple will perform at 4:30 p.m. Olivia Dvorak and band will perform at 6:45 p.m. Danika Holmes will perform at 9 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m. Food will be available from local vendors and drinks will be available from The Crystal Cork. Tickets are $5 or free with a ticket for the Lyle Lovett concert Monday. Tickets are available at The Crystral Cork, Dixon Main Street or www.thecrystalcork.com.

Aug. 4 — Lyle Lovett and His Large Band will perform from 8 to 10 p.m. on the Dixon Riverfront. General Admission tickets are $30 and include admission to Sunday’s performances. Gates open at 6 p.m. with special performance by Robbie LeBlanc and the Real Live Show and Chameleon. Tickets are available at The Crystral Cork, Dixon Main Street or www.thecrystalcork.com.

Aug. 6 — The Dixon City Market will be open from 4 to 7 p.m. on the Riverfront. It showcases a focused list of premier, local and specialty food vendors. There will be live music, craft beer and wine tastings, kids activities and face painting.

Aug. 7 — Family Night on the Riverfront. There will be free Culver’s ice cream and Jelly Belly jelly beans, while supplies last, at 7 p.m. “The Lego Movie” will be shown at 8 p.m. There will be a community picnic at Lowell Park from 5 to 8 p.m. Mama Cimino will be doing the cooking. Dinner donation is $3 for adults and kids under 18 years old eat free, while supplies last.

Aug. 8 — The 144th National Guard Band will play a concert from 6:30 to 8 p.m. followed by a performance by the Dixon Municipal Band from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on the Riverfront.

Aug. 9 — The Alzheimer’s Association annual Great Duck Race will be held at 10 a.m. on the Riverfront. The winning duck gets $1,000. Ducks are 2 for $5, 12 for $25 or 50 for $100. Ducks are available in advance at the Alzheimer’s Association, 93 S. Hennepin Ave.

The Old Settlers’ Log Cabin will be open for tours from 12 to 3 p.m. by the Lee County Genealogy Society. Donations accepted for fundraiser for a new roof for the cabin.

Second Saturdays Art Happenings from 6 to 8 p.m. in downtown Dixon. A variety of stores will have music and art happenings throughout the night. Check the schedule of participating businesses at www.facebook.com/Second.Saturdays.Art.Happenings.

Aug. 9-10 — The Art of Green is a two-day event created to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the John Deere Historic Site. It will feature art exhibits, seminars, antique John Deere equipment, memorabilia displays and tours. From 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9 Nathan Augustine, Deere & Co. art collections manager, will be available to answer questions and will give a presentation at 7 p.m. The historic site will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 10.

Private collections will be on display from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 9 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 9 on First Street between Galena and Hennepin avenues.
