BRADFORD — The fifth annual Chief William T “Bill” Bauer Scholarship fundraiser will be Saturday at JDZ on Main Street in Bradford.

Lunch and dinner will be served from noon to 5 p.m.

The menu will be a cheeseburger or chicken strips with chips or potato salad, dessert and a drink for $7.

The event will also include a silent auction, kids games and raffles from noon to 5 p.m. and a live auction at 6 p.m.

Bauer was the chief of police in Wyoming, Ill., and Bradford when he was killed while on duty in a tragic car accident on Aug. 6, 2010.

The scholarship fund was started by people of the surrounding communities to help selected residents of Stark, Marshall and Bureau counties who choose to further their education in law enforcement.

With the help of the Community Foundation of Central Illinois, the scholarship has been a success.
