WYANET — The Bureau Valley golf team will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Saturday, at the Wyanet Locker. They will serve ribeyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and soda.
St. Jude’s benefit

Quilter’s Guild meeting
PRINCETON — The Covered Bridge Quilter’s Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 4 at the Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 N. Main St., Princeton. Suzanne Bruns will present the program, “Purses and Bags.” Guests are welcome to attend for a $5 fee. There will be no workshop in September.
PRINCETON — The opening meeting of the 2014-15 chapter year of the Princeton-Illinois Chapter NSDAR will begin at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 6 at the Princeton Elks Club, 1105 E. Peru St. A food fee will be collected at the door. Members are reminded to bring Labels for Education for the DAR schools and magazines for the veterans’ home.
Fundraiser in Ladd
LADD — Ladd American Legion Auxiliary Post 938 will hold a chicken dinner fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 7 at Rip’s in Ladd. The donation is $7 and choices will be light, dark and strips; drinks will be extra. There will also be a bake sale, 50/50 drawing and flag raffle. Carry-outs are available at the front door by calling 815-894-3051 and home delivery is available in Ladd. Tickets are available at the door or from any Auxiliary member.
Baby photos available
PRINCETON — Baby photos taken in the Perry Memorial Hospital OB Unit from December 1961 to March 2002 will be available for pickup from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sept. 12-14. The photos will be on display in the hospital’s private dining room. This will be the final opportunity to pick up these baby photos. The remaining photos will be donated to the Bureau County Historical Society.
WYANET — The Wyanet Golden Eagles will meet at 12:30 p.m. Sept. 2 at Main Street BBQ in Wyanet. Lunch is “pay for your own” and all seniors 50 and over are welcome to attend.
Sweet corn sales
PRINCETON — The Optimist Club will end its sweet corn sales this weekend. Today, Saturday, will be the last day to buy corn at the North Main Street location. They will be selling corn near the north gate of the fairgrounds Sunday afternoon. The cost for 14 ears is $3 or five bags of 14 ears is $10.
