Junior champions crowned at Spring Creek tournament

Champions have been crowned for the Spring Creek Junior Member Tournament.

Ross Baker and Kelsey Grosenbach were the Junior champions.

Joshua Scheri won the 6-8 age division with a five-hole score of 25.

Logan Potthoff (48) and Payge Pyszka (57) were the 9-11 champions.

Nathan Potthoff (49) won the 12-13 division.

Matt Hoscheid (90) and Tess Montez (119) won the 14-15 division.

Baker was the 16-18 champion and John Potthoff was runner-up.

• New champ: Tammy Howlett became the third new champion of the Illinois Valley Women’s Golf Invitational in the past five years of the event. Cheri Russell of Morris won in 2010 for the first time as did past runner-up Katie Farrell of the former Hunter’s Ridger in 2012.

There were no defending champions in this year’s field.

Hidden Lake Roundup: Patsy DeFauw and Diane Walker shared low gross honors of 42 in this week’s Hidden Lake Ladies League. Sandy John Crosby, Pat Lebahn, Virginia Moore, Sandy Mark Crosby and Colleen Thurston shared low net honors at 31.

Final round of the ladies’ club championship will be held this upcoming week.

Solorio Memorial: The Frank Solorio Memorial Golf Outing will be held Aug. 23 at Spring Creek Golf Course. Cost is $75 per golfer for the two-person scramble, four-person team. Registration will start at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Checks may be sent to the DePue Men’s Club at P.O. Box 707, DePue, IL 61322.

• Pay It Forward: David Bernabei’s 40th Celebration of Life Pay It Forward golf outing is set for Aug. 30 at Spring Creek Golf Course. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Payment of $45 per player is due by Aug. 20. Proceeds will benefit Cops For Cancer, 10/33 Ambulance and Dalzell Fire Department. For more information, call Wendy Raef at 815-894-9236.
