Lois Wise

MENDOTA — Lois E. Wise, 90, of Mendota, formerly of Princeton, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2014, at Mendota Community Hospital.

She was born Aug. 11, 1924, in Sublette to Elmer and Ellen (Johnson) Blackwood. She married Harold Wise on Feb. 15, 1951. He preceded her in death in 1991.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mendota. She was a legal secretary for the Dubbs Law Office and later for the Troupis Law Office, both in Mendota. She spent her childhood in Walnut, lived in Princeton and her remaining years in Mendota. She loved to travel and made the most of what life had to offer her.

She is survived by one niece, Christine Carlson of Sterling; and two nephews, Rick Henley of Sterling and Tim Henley of Dixon.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Lucille Shearburn.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Larry Sheaves officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Princeton.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Mendota Lutheran Home or the donor's choice.
