Urbanski, Kieffer take first-place finishes

Two local runners won recent running events.

Anthony Urbanski, 21, of Spring Valley was the race winner of the Cornapalooza 10K in Mendota on Aug. 9. Urbanski, who will be a junior member of the cross country team at the University of Wisconsin-Whiteside this fall, had a winning time of 37 minutes, three seconds.

Ben Hosto, 18, of LaMoille won the 15-19 age division, finishing 13th overall in 45:38.6.

A week before, Zack Kieffer, 21, of Princeton won the Pow Wow Days 5K in Tiskilwa on Aug. 2 with a top time of 17:47.2. Abby Knutson, 23, of LaCrosse, Wis., was the female winner in 21:04.

Other age division winners included Katlin Peterson, 22, of Princeton for female 19-14 (23:33.5), Dylan Fawcett, 21, of Princeton for male 19-24 (20:48.2), Jamie Kunkel, 28, of Princeton for female 25-29 (23:51.3), Sherri Jones, 34, of Tiskilwa for female 30-34 (30:40.1), Josh Mabry, 32, for male 30-34 (20:26.7), Rachel Waca, 35, of Princeton for female 35-39 (24:12.7), Dennis Nink, 53, for male 50-54 (20:45.9), Sue Garvin, 61, for female 60-64 (41:52.2), and Alan Beaber, 61, for male 60-64 (42:03.3).

Gerald Forbeck, 43, of Princeton was the winner in the alumni division with a time of 22:07.3.
