Historical society meeting

TISKILWA — The Tiskilwa Historical Society will host Jim Jones as he presents Tiskilwa band history at 7 p.m. Monday. The program will discuss music in Tiskilwa from the 1880s until closing of Tiskilwa High School in 1995. Jones will talk about and show photos of talented musicians and directors from this time period.

Pancake breakfast

PRINCETON — The Princeton Lions Club and Princeton Moose Lodge will host a Homestead pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to noon Sept. 14 at the Princeton Moose Lodge on North Euclid Avenue. The cost is $5 for adults ahead of time or $6 at the door and $3 for children ages 6-12. Tickets are available from any Lion or Moose member and Cannon Cleaners.

Fundraiser

LADD — Peru Parkside cheerleading will hold a fundraiser from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rip’s in Ladd. The cost is $8 per person and includes a 1/4 of chicken or chicken strips plus fries. To purchase tickets contact a Parkside cheerleader or call 815-488-8938. Additional tickets will be available at the door.

Quilters meting

OGLESBY — The Nine Patch Quilt Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dickinson House in Oglesby. Members should bring two finished quilt squares for the block exchange. For more information, call Jean Daley at 815-883-8725.

Retired teachers meeting

KEWANEE — The Regional Office of Education and Kewanee School District 229, in conjunction with the Teachers’ Retirement System, will meet at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7 in the auditorium lobby at Kewanee High School. The meeting will provide information about TRS benefits and explain the retirement process.

Donations wanted

PRINCETON — The First United Methodist Church of Princeton is accepting donations of new and gently used prom, pageant, homecoming and special occasion dresses for little girls, young ladies and women, as well as accessories including jewelry, purses and shoes, for the third annual PROMise sale. New this year: if you donate a prom dress five years or newer you will receive a VIP pass to get into the sale the night before to shop for that perfect dress. Proceeds of the 2015 PROMise sale will benefit the Bureau County Food Pantry and UMYF.  Dress donations may be dropped off at the church located at 316 S.
