CHILLICOTHE — The 4 Directions Healing Foundation will host the fourth annual Native Americans Speak event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Shore Acres Park in Chillicothe. This unique cultural event for Central Illinois offers a rare opportunity to learn about American Indian culture.
The 4 Directions Healing Foundation and many of its respected Native American friends will be sharing culture from their diverse tribal backgrounds. Admission is free. Some seating is available, but all should bring their own seating.
The event will include featured speakers and storytellers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; the Spirit of the Rainbow drum will begin at 1 p.m., along with a host of different traditional dancers, starting with a drum and dance demonstration followed by a mini pow wow until around 4 p.m.; and from 10 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. the Pimiteoui Cultural Center will feature a variety of hands-on activities for children and adults throughout the day.
