The Greater Princeton City Golf Open will be coming up in September.
The 36-hole event starts out at Chapel Hill Golf Course on Sept. 20, moving to Wyaton Hills for the final 18 holes on Sept. 21. The event was held a month earlier last year.
The tournament is open to all residents of the Princeton High School 500 school district or be a member of Chapel Hill, Wyaton Hills or Indian Hills golf courses. Entry fee is $20, including awards and greens fees. Cart to be paid at the courses
Registration deadline is Sept. 15.
Men and Women will be flighted according to USGA Handicap and/or after the firstday’s results. There will be multiple flights including a Senior’s 60+ and Super Senior’s70+ Division.
The tournament is sponsored by Lorita Hellman State Farm Insurance, the Princeton Area Chamber of Commerce, Chapel Hill and Wyaton Hills.
Last year’s champions were Scott Hartmann and Michelle Rowley.
• Spring Creek roundup: Play of the Day Low Net winners for the Spring Creek Ladies League were Kathy Potthoff (A Fight), Bebe Jacobs (B) and Lucy Potthoff (C). Low gross winners for regular play were Alicia Yuvan (A), Jacobs (B) and Lucy Potthoff (C).
• Pay It Forward: David Bernabei’s 40th Celebration of Life Pay It Forward golf outing is set for Aug. 30 at Spring Creek Golf Course. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Proceeds will benefit Cops For Cancer, 10/33 Ambulance and Dalzell Fire Department. For more information, call Wendy Raef at 815-894-9236.
• United Way outing: The Bureau County United Way’s 11th annual golf scramble will be at 1 p.m. Sept. 26 at Chapel Hill Golf Course, Princeton. Registration forms are available at most area golf courses, by email request to firstname.lastname@example.org, on the BCUW website at www.unitedwaybc.org or on the BCUW Facebook page.
Single golfers are welcome. The registration deadline is Sept. 20. The cost is $70/golfer or $280/foursome and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart and dinner. Checks along with the name of golfer or golfers may be sent to the United Way, 618 N. Main St., Princeton, IL 61356.
Proceeds from this event will be used to help fund 14 local non-for profit health and human service agencies that serve those in need locally. For more information, or to register, contact the Bureau County United Way office at 815-872-0821.
• Chip shots: The Frank Solorio Memorial Golf Outing tees off Saturday at Spring Creek Golf Course. Registration will start at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
