Dianne Smith

ARLINGTON — Dianne Smith, 69, of 111 Arlington Ave., Arlington, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

Dianne was born Sept. 12, 1944, in Spring Valley to Francis I. and Mary Jane (Neidetcher) Smith. She worked at Hobb’s in Spring Valley, then as a clerk at Motel 6 in Peru for 20 years and then as a caregiver for Home Health.

Dianne was a 1962 graduate of LaMoille High School. She was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Church and was an avid reader. She was the oldest of seven and even though not a mother herself, she was a mother to all her family.

She is survived by two sisters, Jo Alyce (Thomas) Hewitt and Tammy (Mark) Manijak, both of Arlington; four brothers, Bruce Smith of Tiskilwa, James (Celie) Smith of LaMoille, Mark (Julie) Smith of Lake Thunderbird and Thomas Smith of Arlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother-in-law, Tommy Hewitt.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Arlington with the Rev. Patrick Fixsen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Arlington.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday Aug. 29, in the church.

Pallbeaers will be her brothers, Bruce, James, Mark and Thomas Smith, and two nephews, Mike Hewitt and Dustin Smith.
