Widespread rain was received across Illinois last week with some areas of localized flooding in the southeast district. There were 4.4 days suitable for fieldwork for the week ending Aug. 24. Statewide, precipitation averaged 1.41 inches, 0.74 inches above normal. The average temperature was 77.4 degrees, 3.9 degrees above normal.

Corn in the dough stage reached 93 percent, compared to the five-year average of 87 percent. Corn dented reached 48 percent, compared to the five-year average of 53 percent. Corn condition was rated at 82 percent good to excellent.

Soybeans setting pods reached 94 percent, ahead of the five-year average of 88 percent. Soybean condition was rated at 78 percent good to excellent.
