Tigresses win tennis opener

The Princeton Tigresses tennis team opened the season Tuesday with a 3-2 win over LaSalle-Peru.

PHS swept singles play with Ellie Bonucci (6-1, 6-2) at No. 1 and Angelica Jones (6-0, 6-2) at No. 2. The Wheeler sisters, Malena and Mallory, teamed up for a 6-1, 3-6, 10-7 win at No. 2 doubles.

In other doubles play, the No. 1 tandem of Anjali Patell and Brittany Krohn fell 6-1, 6-3 and Elise Blocki and Mackenzie Geldean fell 4-6, 7-5, 10-3.

Princeton also came up big in F/S play with a 4-1 win. Singles winners were Jessica Krohn (8-2) and Madalyn Robbins (8-4). In doubles, wins came from Anna Zehr and Julia Prushinski (8-5) and Emma Proffitt and Jo D’Ambrosio (8-6)

The PHS No. 1 doubles of Kiara Tate and Alison Brown fell 9-8 (7-5).
