Published: Monday, Sept. 1, 2014 1:20 p.m. CDT

PRINCETON — A free diabetic retinopathy screening for people with diabetes or those at risk for diabetes will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 5 at Soldiers and Sailors Park on South Main Street across from the Bureau County Courthouse.

This screening will take place at the same time the Princeton Lions are hosting a bake sale and Lunch in the Park.

The screening is coordinated by the Lions Club and the Lions of Illinois Foundation.

The quality of life for people with diabetic retinopathy and other retinal disorders is dramatically impacted. Since early detection of such disorders is critical, people with diabetes or are older than 55 are encouraged to get tested.
