Four different players scored as DePue Little Giants topped Serena 5-3 along the shores of Lake DePue in nonconference boys soccer play Tuesday.

Heber Moreno put in two goals off assists by Alberto Martinez and Edgar Moreno. Adrian Perez, Edgar Moreno and Martinez (PK) also scored with David Moreno adding two assists.

Still, it was not the Little Giants’ best effort, coach Tim Stevens said.

“I wouldn’t say that anyone on the team felt like they played a good game,” Steven sad. “We basically wasted the first half giving up a foul in the box because of poor midfield recovery and did not equalize until 8 minutes left in the first period. Once they scored the team was able to tack quickly, however the team needed to get into their offensive rhythm faster.

“The one positive part of the game is that we had five goals off of four different people and four goals had an assist.  This shows that we can spread the ball around and are not dependent on one person to score or impact the offensive.”

The Little Giants improved to 4-2 with the win.
