DAVENPORT, Iowa — From a duchess to a dog whisperer ... an Oscar winner to a best-selling author ... and this year’s participant, former “Good Morning America” co-host and breast cancer survivor Joan Lunden, Gilda’s Club Quad-Cities has certainly had an eclectic list of speakers for its “Intimate Conversations” series.
Now the series can add a New Kid on the Block-turned-TV crimefighter to the list.
Gilda’s Executive Director Claudia Robinson said Donnie Wahlberg has been signed for this year’s Intimate Conversations, set for Friday, April 8, at the Davenport RiverCenter. Advance tickets sales began in early December, she said.
The 46-year-old Boston area native is a fairly eclectic guy himself.
He was a member of both New Kids on the Block and his younger brother’s Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch, and has a movie resume that includes “Ransom,” “The Sixth Sense” and three of the “Saw” horror flicks, as well as the TV series “Band of Brothers,” and since 2010, on “Blue Bloods” as a NYPD detective and the son of the police commissioner, played by Tom Selleck.
With brothers Paul and Mark, he’s also a co-owner of the Boston restaurant Wahlburgers, which is the subject of an A&E reality series of the same name. Wahlberg also is the subject of another reality series, “Donnie Loves Jenny,” with his wife as of August 2014, former Playboy model and “The View” co-host, Jenny McCarthy.
The Gilda’s “Intimate Conversations” began in 2010 with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, and has included Oscar-winner Helen Hunt, chef Curtis Stone, “Dog Whisperer” Cesar Millian, author Nicholas Sparks and Lunden.
