Lenten music and luncheon

PRINCETON — Hampshire Colony Congregational Church in Princeton will host a Lenten music, meditation and luncheon Wednesday, March 22, at the church, 604 S. Church St. in Princeton. Music will be provided by Cheryl Bebej and family from 12:10 to 12:30 p.m. and lunch will follow in Fellowship Hall. The menu will be lasagna. A free-will donation will be accepted. The church is handicapped accessible.

Annual chicken and biscuit dinner

MALDEN — The Malden United Methodist Church will host its annual chicken and biscuit dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 26, at the church, located at 324 Main St. in Malden. The menu will consist of creamed chicken and biscuits, vegetables, gelatin salad, dessert and beverage. Tickets will be available at the door and cost is $8 for adults and $4 for children ages 12 and under. Carry-outs will also be available.

Wellness program planned

PRINCETON — Perry Memorial Hospital will offer a free wellness program at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 30, at Bureau County Senior Center in Princeton. Ashley Schwind, registered dietitian from Perry Memorial Hospital, will discuss reading labels, incorporating fruit and vegetables into your mean plan, and portion size.

‘Cotton Patch Gospel’ performance

PRINCETON — St. Louis Council of Catholic Women (CCW) will sponsor the “Cotton Patch Gospel” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, at Harkrader Hall at St. Louis Church, 616 S. Gosse Blvd. in Princeton. Phillip Kaufmann performs in this one-man musical production. A free-will offering to support the hungry (Bureau County Food Pantry, Why Hunger and MCC food programs) is appreciated. There is no admission fee. The public is invited to attend. Appetizers will be available prior to the show and during intermission.

Breakfast in Buda

BUDA — The Buda Fire Department and Rescue Unit will serve a pancakes, biscuits and gravy breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at the Buda Community Hall. The cost will be a donation. The event will also include raffles and a 50/50.

PES will present musical

PRINCETON — Princeton Elementary Schools will present this year’s third-grade musical, “Off Their Rockers,” at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 11, in the Princeton High School auditorium. Everyone is sure to enjoy the musical celebration of oldies rock-n-roll by Jill and Michael Gallina. For more information, call 815-875-1164.

Illinois Valley Democrats will meet

DEPUE — The Illinois Valley Democrats will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 23, at the DePue VFW, 202 W. First St. in DePue. All are welcome to attend. The group will address the April township and municipal elections and further discussions on the 2018 elections. Membership dues for 2017 are due and payable at this meeting. Food and beverages will be provided after the meeting.

Sibling class at St. Margaret’s

SPRING VALLEY — St. Margaret’s Hospital will hold a Mom’s Special Helper sibling class for soon-to-be big brothers and sisters at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 1, in room 309 on the third floor of the hospital. The class will be conducted through the use of a video, demonstrations and storybook readings. A tour of the Family Birthing Centre will be provided, and participants will receive refreshments, certificates, a gift bag and souvenir handouts. Wild game stag
