Robert Standley

NEW BOSTON, Mo. — Robert Standley, 93, of New Boston, Mo., died Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Pioneer Skilled Nursing Center in Marceline, Mo.

Born June 24, 1923, on the family farm to John William and Opal (Bradley) Standley, he married Florence Olson March 26, 1944. She preceded him in death on April 9, 1980. He then married Nola Doreen Schmidt April 4, 1981. She survives.

He was a farmer and seed corn dealer. He had operated his own salvage yard in the past, ran the Zearing Elevator in Zearing, and retired in 1988 returning to his hometown of New Boston, Mo., in 2005.

He was a member of Covenant Church in Princeton and attended the New Boston Christian Church.

Also surviving are one son, Calvin (Beth) Standley of Malden; three daughters, Marcia (Paul) Wooden of Polo, Wanda (Cecil) Miller of Bloomington and Linda (Bob) Krzywda, Dallas, Ga.; two sisters, Dorothy Cunningham of Davenport, Iowa, and Doris Liebhart of Marceline, Mo.; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Keith; three brothers, Benny, Frank and Harry; and one sister, Merta Lewis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at the Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, Mo., with burial in Helton Cemetery in Goldsberry, Mo. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to New Boston Christian Church or Heartland Christian Academy in Bethel, Mo., and mailed to 1720 N. Missouri Ave., Marceline, MO 64658.
