YSB kicked off its annual Blue Ribbon Campaign on April 1 by tying ribbons throughout the YSB service area.
The Blue Ribbon Campaign also consists of sending blue paper ribbons, which can be purchased for a $1 donation and hung up, and blue ribbon pins to businesses throughout the 20 counties the agency serves.
According to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services Child Abuse/Neglect Statistics taken from the Monthly CA/N Report dated February 2017, there were 32,123 indicated reports of child abuse/neglect during FY ‘16.
Additionally, there were 2,076 indicated reports of sexual abuse.
Along with the blue ribbons and pins, proclamations will be read and signed declaring April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month by the leaders in the communities of Ottawa, LaSalle, Streator, Peru, Marseilles, Rockford, Princeton, Oglesby, Aurora and Glen Ellyn.
