PRINCETON — The Princeton Fire Department responded to a report of a barn fire shortly after midnight early Wednesday morning.
According to fire chief Chuck Woolley, the department was dispatched at 12:23 a.m. to the residence of Bob Balensiefen, located at 19174 1750 North Avenue.
While en route, the first engine requested MABAS box alarm help. Upon the engine's arrival, they found a barn fully involved. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly, and mutual aid was canceled with the exception of Wyanet Fire, which was on scene before canceled.
Woolley said the barn is a total loss. The Illinois State Fire Marshal has been requested to assist in determining the cause and origin of the fire. This fire isn't suspicious, Woolley added.
Peru Ambulance and Spring Valley Fire manned Princeton's station during the incident. Crews were on the scene until 2:45 a.m. No injuries were reported.
