PRINCETON — The Bureau County Genealogy Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 25, at the Society library at 629 S. Main St. in Princeton.
The program, which is free and open to the public, will feature as speaker Amber Lowery on the topic of maintaining your research records. She believes in the “Rule of Three” in regards to archiving and using family history. One set stays home; one can travel with you as you research; and the third copy, which is a copy of everything, is kept in a safe place outside one’s home. She also will go over the set up for Google Drive, adding and backing up your data, and how to take your work on the go.
Lowery has worked in libraries nearly 20 years, most recently as a reference assistant at Peoria Public Library, working primarily in local history and genealogy. She has degrees in both marketing and history from Bradley University.
The next Saturday opening of BCGS library will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 3. This is an ideal time for those still working to come in and use the Society resources.
