Lady Devils advance to regional finals

Regional roundup

The Hall Lady Devils lived for another day in the IHSA softball postseason Tuesday; LaMoille/Ohio did not.

Lady Devils top Riverdale: The Lady Devils took a 7-1 lead after four innings and held on for a 7-3 win over Port Byron Riverdale in 2A regional semifinal play at Fulton.

"It was a sloppy game, but this time of year a win is a win," Hall coach Brian Holman said.
"Credit Riverdale for playing well and having a solid approach at the plate. The top of our lineup was huge when they needed to be."

Hunter Galassi led Hall with three hits and two RBIs. Rena Barroso and Hanah Hart (RBI) had two hits apiece and Faith Whightsil had a RBI double.

Barroso went the distance in the circle, striking out nine batters while scattering eight hits with a wall.

Hall (18-10) advances to Saturday's regional finals at 10 a.m. against TRAC East rival Sterling Newman (15-10), which beat Fulton 8-6.

Lady Lions fall to Marquette: Allie Snook powered the 1A No. 1 ranked Lady Crusaders to a 13-3 victory in five innings in regional semifinal action at Serena with a 3-4 effort, including a two-run homer, a two-run triple, and an RBI single.

LaMoille/Ohio did all of its scoring in third inning to pull within 8-3 on RBI at-bats from Cassie Martin (2-for-3), Alana Cherry (1-3) and Katelyn Matznick. Riley Johnson and Addi Matznick both hit safely.

• St. Bede's regional baseball semifinal at Fulton Wednesday was postponed to 7 p.m Thursday.
