Elizabeth Philhower

PRINCETON — Elizabeth Ann Philhower, 91, of Ohio, Ill., passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton.

Elizabeth was born Jan. 7, 1926, in Princeton to Robert and Hazel (Corey) Mercer. She married Calvin Philhower Jan. 5, 1956, in Kasbeer. He preceded her in death on July 28, 2006.

Elizabeth attended Princeton High School. She was a homemaker and an active member of the Kasbeer Community Church, including teaching Sunday school. She enjoyed oil painting, writing poetry, bird watching, gardening, baking and Bible school. She was also active with Kid’s Klub and Home Extension, was a judge at the 4-H Fair and a member of Good Sam’s Camping Club.

Elizabeth is survived by one daughter, Diana (Jon) Gauger of Elmhurst; two sons, David (Cheryl) Philhower of Ohio, Ill., and John (Jane) Philhower of Ohio, Ill.; eight grandchildren; one stepgrandchild; 14 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, Robert Philhower; one sister, Betty Greenwood; and one grandson, Daniel Philhower.

The family will receive friends and family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, at the Kasbeer Community Church. Services will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Limerick Cemetery in Kasbeer.

Memorials may be directed to the Kasbeer Community Church.
