My son, Nate, pointed out over the weekend that he saw on your bcrnews.com website the story about Princeton High School being named of the best high schools in the nation and state by U.S. News and World Report (so if you think the younger generation isn’t keeping up with the local news, you’re wrong).
Anyway, this news doesn’t surprise me. Both my son, Nate, and daughter, Cassie, graduated from Princeton, and they may joke still about growing up in a small town like Princeton, but they did get a solid education and learned good ethics from so many different people.
Nate went on to get a doctorate from Iowa State and is now a cyber defense specialist with Argonne National Labs in Bollingbrook. Cassie eventually earned a master’s from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and is now a nurse practitioner with St. Louis Children’s Hospital.
I credit a solid education in Princeton for some of that success, although it took a lot of work after high school as well to achieve their successful careers.
Still, I think it’s fun when we travel and come across someone wearing a Yale or Harvard shirt, and I tell them, “Oh, my son and daughter both graduated from Princeton!” Ivy Leaguers they are not, but regardless, they got a great education, and we all have fond memories of Princeton.
Congratulations to PHS and it’s staff!
