Cookout in Wyanet

WYANET — Bureau Valley Wyanet will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Wyanet Locker. They will serve ribeyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and pop.

Spaghetti supper fundraiser

MANLIUS — A spaghetti supper, with proceeds going to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, will be served from 4:30 to 7 p.m. (unless they run out of food) Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Manlius Sportman’s Club. Gluten-free is available upon request but there will be a limited amount. This will be a free-will donation. Herb guild will meet

STANDARD — The Illinois Valley Herb Guild will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, at the Putnam County Community Center in Standard. Club member Craig Arbet will present the Herb of the Month, Garlic. He will have homemade garlic butter with some Italian bread for refreshments. Arbet is also on the refreshment committee. Any club members who are planning on bringing refreshments can call 815-228-7369. The speaker of the month will be Scott Shearer on trimming trees. Dues are due this meeting. Anyone in the general public who would like to increase their knowledge of using herbs for culinary, medicinal and dyes is welcome to attend.

Genealogical society to meet

KEWANEE — The Henry County Genealogical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 25, at the Kewanee Public Library Second Floor meeting room. An elevator is available at the First Street entrance. Harvey Johnson and Terry Brock will give a program on the “History of the Henry County Courthouse.” Everyone is welcome.
